Billy “Bill” W. Swan, 83 of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on September 10, 2018. Bill was born on October 27, 1934 in Mercer County, Missouri to Claude and Ella Swan. He was a 1953 graduate of Princeton High School.

During his time there, he excelled at basketball, football and track. He married his loving wife Elizabeth (Libby) Clark more than 61 years ago on December 14, 1956. Bill was drafted to the US Army in 1957.

He worked for 35-years in sales, however he found his real passion after retirement. He worked hard growing and selling produce at a roadside vegetable stand on 50-highway near Lone Jack. He found great joy in interacting with his “regulars” as well as his new customers.

He found great pleasure in sharing his love of gardening with his entire family. During the winter Bill loved watching basketball. He made it a priority to attend all his grandkids events.

He felt his family was the purpose of his entire life. Bill was his family’s hero. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Claude and Richard Swan.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his children, Tim L (Colleen) Swan of Lee’s Summit, Terry (Cindy) Swan of Princeton, and Todd (Christine) Swan of Lee’s Summit. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Timothy J (Katherine) Swan of Lee’s Summit, Cody Swan of Missouri, Cole Swan of Missouri, Chris (Sarah) Collura of Raymore, Karline (Brian) Williams of Lee’s Summit, Riley (Colton) Toney of Pleasant Hill, IA, Grace Swan of Lee’s Summit and Grant Swan of Lee’s Summit along with his 7 great-grandchildren and his brother Gordon (Karen) Swan of Raytown. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 9-10:00 am, with a funeral service beginning at 10:00 am, all at Grace United Methodist Church, 2400 E Us Highway 50, Lees Summit, MO 64063.

Interment with military honors will follow in Floral Hills East Cemetery, Lee’s Summit, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations to Grace United Methodist Church (Lee’s Summit) or the Half Rock Cemetery would be appreciated.
