OBITUARY Virginia Butner March 10, 1919 – September 7, 2018 Dorothea Virginia Butner, 99, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018. She was born on March 10, 1919 in Calera, Alabama. Virginia was the daughter of Floyd Glenn and Eula Bell (Crawford) Saunders.

She married James B. Butner on December 9, 1940. James worked for Frisco Railroad and they were transferred to Kansas City in 1956. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.

She also worked part time at Sonshine School (Mother’s Day Out) at Overland Park Church of Christ. Most important to James and Virginia was their faith and family. From their union they had three children, Gary Butner of Merriam, KS, Sharron Greene and husband, Trent and Melinda Smith and husband, Scotty, four grandchildren, Michelle Kester, Jennifer Beuscher, Brian Greene and Kelli Smith, four great grandchildren, Devon Beuscher, Riley Beuscher, Emmett Kester and Virginia (Jinx) Kester.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Beryl Butner on December 3, 2008, her brother, Floyd Glenn Saunders Jr. and sister, Ella Rebecca Scott.
