Juanita “Granny” Broughton, the daughter and first born of six children to Samuel and Rosie Moore-Allen was born in the New Hope section of Bullard, Texas on December 11, 1924. Juanita attended school in Bullard, Texas. In 1944 Juanita left Texas and moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she resided until her homegoing on August 30, 2018 surrounded by family.

Juanita accepted Christ at an early age and upon moving to Kansas City, she unite with the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. On July 5, 1944, Juanita was united in Holy Matrimony to Lafayette “Dallas” Broughton, Sr. to this union, two children were born, Lafayette “Lafee” Broughton, Jr. and Delores “Cookie” Broughton. Preceding Juanita in death were her parents, five siblings, her husband and son.

Juanita worked as a Day Worker for many years along with doing Child Care, being a Care-Giver and a Home Maker. Juanita “Granny” Broughton leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Delores Jackson (Richard Venable); grandchildren: Donnell Jackson, Chanita Roebuck (Lamar), Sherrita Jackson, Joel Bowens, Sandra Broughton, Reginald Broughton (Myesha) and David Dorch all of Kansas City, Missouri. She leaves twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a Goddaughter, Barbara Conway; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service for Juanita “Granny” Broughton will be held Saturday, September 8, 11:00 a.m. at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 2411 E. 27th Street. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery.
