Billy Dean Sheets age 77 of Laurel Springs passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Mr. Sheets was born in Ashe County on February 10, 1942 to Doughton and Farris Hamby Sheets. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Carl Sheets, Coy Sheets, James Sheets, and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Howell.

He was a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Sheets is survived by: his wife, Carol Miller Sheets, two sons, Gary Dean Miller of Lenoir and Richard Fred Miller of Wilkesboro, one daughter, Patricia Lewis Howell of Laurel Springs, three brothers, Fred Sheets of Lenoir, Cecil Ray Sheets of Jefferson, and Hobert Sheets of Boone, one sister, Mary Lou Severt of West Jefferson, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be held on Monday at 3:00 pm at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church by Pastor Sonny Thomas. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the family, in care of Badger Funeral Home, 300 E. Main Street, West Jefferson, NC, 28694.
