Bleakia V. Whitten, 82, passed away September 17, 2018. Born on March 27, 1936 in Dayton, TN to the late Nola and Ola Hill. She grew up in the hills of Tennessee, with six brothers and one sister.

She is preceded in death by brothers, Ceamon, Alvin and Charles. She is survived by sister, Betty and brothers, Earl, Kineard, and Dallas. She received her education degree from Kent State University in Kent, OH.

She was employed at Massillon City Schools as a second grade teacher, in Massillon, OH. She enjoyed many friends in the school system as well as the children she loved and taught. During her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her spouse and best friend, Fred, whom she was married to for 59 years.

They shared a love for gardening, nature, reading, and spending time with their grandchildren, and great-grandchildren (Thomas, Ellie, Emma, and Raiden). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Fred and son, Michael. Bleakia is survived by son, Jim III (Debra); daughter-in-law, Lisa; grandchildren, Sarah (Bruce), Susie (Adam), Brittany, Holly and four great-grandchildren.

Our thanks go out to her caregiver, Dixie; Hospice Visiting Nurses, Cleveland Clinic and Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, who have already carried out previous arrangements. Our special thanks to dear friends and neighbors who helped in every way from transporting, to grocery shopping, and trips to doctors. Thanks for the love and encouragement.

Per her wishes cremation has taken place. No services will be held.
