Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Nichols; wife, Carmelita Nichols; parents, Vernon and Elva Nichols; and grandson, Lucas Bovard. He is survived by his wife, Susan F. Nichols of the home; daughters, Susan Marie Bovard of Westville, IN, Kathrine Grace Cloud of Weare, NH, and Sarah Elizabeth Milligan of Snow Hill; step-daughter, Elizabeth Godard Boswell of Saratoga; step-son, Gregory Trent Godard II of New Jersey; brothers, Alvin Nichols and Dalvin Nichols both of Farmville; eleven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
