Mr. Bobby D. Sanders, age 86, of Lanett, AL passed away on Saturday, December 29th, 2018 at Bethany House in Auburn, AL. He was born on July 22nd, 1932 in Lanett. Mr. Sanders is survived by his three children, Donald (Rhonda) Sanders, Billy (Susan) Sanders, and Beth (Dan) Hamby; his sister, Helen Blankenship; his nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren; his sister in law, Bea Sanders.

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn F. Sanders; two grandchildren, Emily Wright and Matt Sanders; and his great granddaughter, Tiffany Wyrosdick. Mr. Sanders was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lanett. He retired from West Point Pepperell as a Supervisor in the Bleachery after many years of service.

He enjoyed fishing and making fish baskets, and was affectionately known throughout the community as “the fish basket man”. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, WWE Wrestling, and football, where he would pull for his favorite team, the one that was winning. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at 2:00 PM (EST) at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lanett.

The Reverend Todd Quintard and the Reverend Rusty Letson will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley.
