OBITUARY Bong Soo “Paul” Park September 25, 1939 – July 26, 2018 Bong Soo “Paul” Park was born in Pyungbok Chosun -Gun, North Korea on September 25, 1939 and passed away on July 26, 2018, due to complications from a stroke. He will be remembered for his kindness, strong devotion to his family, and his faith. As a child, his family left North Korea for Seoul, South Korea in 1945, shortly before Korea’s liberation from Japan.

He was one of 10 children, six of whom survived. An excellent student, he graduated with top honors from Seoul National University-School of Engineering in 1958, and served in the South Korean Army for three years. He arrived in the United States in 1965 to study Engineering at the University of Iowa.

He received a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University in 1968. He began his career at Butler Manufacturing Company in 1969, and remained with Butler for 45 years, until his retirement in 2014. During his lifetime, he enjoyed creating beautiful backyard landscapes, camping and fishing, attending Mass every Sunday, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Therese Kyung Park and Hye Young Park. He is survived by his loving wife, Young, and daughters Susanne (John), Irene (Daniel), and Christine (Andrew), and four grandchildren, Alex, Emma, Sarah and Oliver. A funeral mass, open to the public, will be celebrated on Monday, July 30, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Saint Thomas More Parish, 11822 Holmes Rd.

, Kansas City, MO 64131. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
