Bonita “Bonnie” Jansen, age 93 passed away at St. Joseph Hospital on Friday, January 4, 2019. Bonnie was known for being a loving mother and wife. Family was always important to her.

Bonnie was born in Nooksack, WA on December 6, 1925 to Percy and Dolly (Handy) Hanowell. She was one of 5 children. She attended Nooksack Valley Schools.

At the age of 17, Bonnie wed Nicholas Jansen on April 30, 1943 and together they farmed on the Kline Rd. After a time the couple moved to a home on Marine… Read More » Dr., then to the Bakerview Rd. and finally King Tut Rd.

While Nick was busy with the Firestone Tire Shop, Bonnie kept their home warm and inviting and six children busy. Bonnie loved working in her flower garden growing dahlias and roses. She enjoyed traveling, fishing out in the bay with Nick and hunting.

Bonnie is survived by children Nikkie Howard, Donald (Theresa) Jansen, Ron Jansen, Rick (Marcy) Jansen, and Rochelle Murray; brother in law Joe Bruschetto, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by her brother Jimmy Hanowell and sister Sandra (Frank) Drake. Bonnie is preceded in death by husband Nicholas Jansen, daughter Carol Bruschetto, sister Barbara Lankhaar and brother Percy Hanowell Jr. A private family graveside service will be held in Monumenta later in the week.
