OBITUARY Bonnie Carolyn Krueckeberg August 2, 1929 – October 9, 2018 Bonnie Pepler Krueckeberg, 89, died at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on October 9, 2018. She was born in Fort Wayne, the only child of Walter Louis Pepler and Mae Behrman Pepler. She graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School and in June, 1951, received a B.A. from Valparaiso University.

Four days later she married John Howard Krueckeberg. The Krueckebergs remained in Valparaiso, where Bonnie taught elementary school children and John attended law school. Once he received his law degree they moved to Fort Wayne and started a family.

In addition, Bonnie sold real estate with Coldwell Banker in Fort Wayne. She was a lifelong member of the charitable organization Psi Iota Xi (Pi chapter) and Vestavia. She also enjoyed playing tennis and golf with her friends and family.

Bonnie and John were drawn to the warmer climate of Naples, Florida, in 1986. In addition to helping John in his law practice she was a founding member of the Naples Philharmonic League, a greeter at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Naples and shared her love of reading with the members of that city’s Artis Book Club. The Krueckebergs also enjoyed traveling, including trips to China, Thailand, Germany, Spain, Italy and France, as well as several cruises.

They returned to Fort Wayne beginning in 2004 and became full-time residents about a decade later. They attended Trinity English Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Bonnie developed a passion for bridge and became active with the Bridge Centers in both Naples and Fort Wayne.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, John, a year ago. She is survived by three children: Kurt Krueckeberg of Fort Wayne, Carolyn “Kelly” Johnson (Lee) of Flat Rock, N.C., and Katherine Falkenstern (John) of Fort Wayne. Also surviving her are grandsons Britton Falkenstern (Jamie) and Mitchell Falkenstern, both of Fort Wayne, as well as three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on October 18 at Trinity English Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. at the church. Memorials can be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice of Fort Wayne, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, IN, 46814.
