Obituary for Brenda K Durkee Brenda Kay Sands Durkee, 68 years old, of Dandridge, Tennessee holding the hand of her beloved husband, Gaylord “Bob” Durkee, departed from us at 6:20 pm to dwell with our lord on December 24, 2018. Born the second child to George Whitney Sands and Sarah Katherine (Williams) Sands in 1950, the family moved from Tennessee to Georgia in 1958 with her siblings Carl, Wanda, Helen, Donnie and Ronnie. Celebrating 40 years of marriage on September 16, Brenda and Bob were married at Stone Chapel, Atlanta, Georgia in 1978.
Brenda is preceded in death by her father, mother, her brothers Carl and Ronnie, brother in law Bobby and her beloved son, Ephraim “Trapper” McDuffie Ingram. Brenda is survived by five children: Chris “Billy Elvis” Durkee (& Shawna) of Ohio, Scott Durkee (& Kati) of North Carolina, George E. Ingram (& Marcia) of Georgia, and Shirley Ingram (& Janet) of Georgia; grandchildren Christopher Ingram, Austin Ingram, Jamie Durkee, Eldon Ingram, Eli Ingram, Will Durkee, Lulu Durkee; and great-grandchildren Jeremiah, Miles, Ethan, Suzie, Silas and Maverick. Brenda is also survived by her brothers in-law, Richard Durkee, Jim Durkee and sister in-law Sheila Durkee McKenna.
Brenda and Bob traveled extensively finding Hawaii as one of their favorite vacation destinations. Brenda was more fortunate than most with her luck at both love and cards. One of her favorite things was yard sales.
She always wanted to give love more than receive. Her saying was, “Love you, more”. Brenda is well loved and will be missed by family and friends.
She touched so many with her kindness and constant smile. Her charm and quick wit were most recently showcased as she entertained visitors from across the globe as a tour guide at Dollywood with her dear friend Chris Ellis. The family sends special thanks for the care provided by the superior staff of Tennessee Medical Center, especially Dr. Gooden and the whole staff of the 11th Floor East.
Additional thanks to Brenda’s Dollywood family. Funeral service will be held at Farrar Funeral Home chapel on Friday December 28, 2018 at 2:00PM with Dr. Tim Riordan officiating. Visitation will follow the service until 6:00PM at the funeral home.
