Bruce J. Carey, 74, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018, surrounded by family at his home in Rhinebeck. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Bruce moved to Rhinebeck 26 years ago from Old Brookville, NY, where he worked for Long Island University.

He was a member of The Good Shepherd Church, and coached CYO Basketball and Little League Baseball. He enjoyed playing golf with his son Brendan, and cooking with his daughter Susan Bruce served in the US Marine Corps. Born September 18, 1944 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of Joseph and Loretta (Barberi) Carey.

On December 6, 1984 he married Kathleen Clair in Old Brookville. In addition to his wife Kathy of Rhinebeck he is survived by his son Brendan Carey of Garden City, NY; his daughter Susan (Tony) Brand of Port St. Lucie, Fl; a brother Eric Carey, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Carl, Alan, Ronald and Joel.

Calling hours are Friday, December 28th, 4 to 7 PM at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Prayers will be offered at 6:00 PM. Funeral services are Saturday, 10:30 AM, at the funeral home.
