The obituary for Mr. Buford Deese is posted as a courtesy to the Deese family who have been long time residents of Anson County. Monroe – Buford Lamar Deese, 77, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Burford was born in Anson County on July 1, 1941 to the late Bennett and Bessie Simpson Deese, he was also preceded in death by his son Buford L (Dale) Deese Jr., a grandson, Brian Wayne Myers Jr., daughter-in-law, Lori Munson Myers, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, September 21, 2018 at Love Baptist Church, 707 Deese Rd. Monroe, NC 28110, burial will follow with military honors at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Gordon Funeral Service 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe NC 28112.

Buford is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Vella Derrick Deese, a daughter Pamela Deese Sheppard of Morven, two sons, Brian Wayne Myers of Kannapolis, Gary Kenneth Myers, (Sandie) of Charlotte, four grandchildren, Amanda Uriarte, (Ronald) of Matthews, Melissa Dann (Phillip) of Charlotte, Jennifer Smith (Gabe) of Albemarle, T.W. Sheppard (Rhiannon) of Rockingham; five loving great-grandchildren, brothers, Troy Deese (Patricia), Marvin Deese both of Wadesboro, a sister-in-law Tobitha Deese of Charlotte, several loving nieces and nephews. Affectionitely known as Papa, Buford served his country in the United States Army, he cut his teeth on the cash register of his fathers’ businesses, he loved people, playing golf, and his UNC Tarheels, his second family Bills Food Center of Wadesboro and Deese Corner Store of Monroe, he enjoyed various business ventures. The legacy that Papa leaves behind is one of honor, love, humor, joy, and family.

Every time when asked how are you, his response was always “If I was any better I would be in Heaven”. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Love Baptist Church, 707 Deese Rd, Monroe, NC 28110, to Community Hospice of Indian Trail, 156 Corporate Blvd, Indian Trail, NC 28079.
