OBITUARY Burnie Otis Moon Jr. August 20, 1930 – September 16, 2018 Burnie Otis Moon, Jr., 88, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away Sunday, September 16 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton, Indiana. Burnie was born in Tipton August 20, 1930 to Bernie and Frances (Fox) Moon. On January 15, 1951 Burnie joined the United States Navy and proudly served for three and a half years, earning medals for Good Conduct, National Defense Service and Navy Occupation Service.

Shortly after leaving the Navy, he married Shirley Bartlett. Together they raised 2 daughters. Burnie worked for Chrysler for many years in many different capacities, retiring from there in 1996.

In addition to working at Chrysler, he was a pastor for the Emmanuel Fellowship Church in Sharpsville for 25 years, retiring from clergy in 1999. Shirley passed away in May of 2000. In August of 2003, he married Florence “Sue” (Hubbard) Porter.

He was quite a dog lover, he always had dogs in his life from the time he was a kid. He would head up family camping trips when the girls were young, and then travelled around the world, where ever their daughter Lynn was stationed, they would go and visit, from Florida, to Virginia to Hawaii and Japan. Burnie had a beautiful spirit and children were drawn to him and his sense of humor.

He had a knack for storytelling and would weave tales of Mother Goose stories with his own twist, never reciting any story the same way twice. In the end, Burnie never lost his love of life and the love he had for his family and friends. He will be truly missed.

Burnie is survived by his wife, Sue (Hubbard-Porter) Moon; brothers, Phillip Dean Moon and David (Loretta) Moon; sisters, Rebecca (Chet) Brittain and Joan Barnes; daughters, Carla McKee and Lynn (Edward) Von Reuss; grandchildren Lindsay (Mark), Mindy, Molly (John) and Alex (Amy); three great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Burnie is preceded in death by brothers Donald (Joyce) Moon, Wayne “Keith” Moon; brother-in-law, John Barnes; sisters Annamae (Ralph) McNew and Phyllis (Gene) Dragoo. Family will receive friends Thursday, September 20th from 10am to 2pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902 with funeral to follow; officiated by Lynn Brust.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2723 S. Albright Road, Kokomo, IN 46902.
