OBITUARY Calvin Hamann January 22, 1932 – September 15, 2018 Calvin G.C. Hamann passed away peacefully at his home on September 15, 2018, at the age of 85. Calvin was born in Travis County on Christmas Day, 1932 to the late Richard Hamann and Lydia Stern Hamann. Calvin was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather known as Pe Paw and friend to so many.

He can be forever remembered for his love of faith, family, farming, his sense of humor, his passion for food, his kindness and one of a kind smile and of course playing dominoes. Calvin was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed and where he served in many various capacities over the years. He also was a member of the Richland Community Club, Cele Community Farmers Group, DeKalb Seed Dealer, Board Member of the Texas Farm Bureau and part of the Hamann Agriculture Complex for FFA Students.

In addition, he served in many different capacities for the Texas Legislature. Throughout the 57th through the 76th Legislature of the Texas House and Senate, he held numerous positions during the tenures of Texas Governors Price Daniel, John Connally, Preston Smith, Dolph Briscoe, William C. Clements, Mark White, Ann Richards, and George W. Bush. Calvin married Vera Witte on December 12, 1954 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, he leaves behind a daughter, Brenda Kirchner and her husband William. He was blessed with 3 grandchildren: Loren Kirchner and his wife Tamara, Letisha Mouser and her husband Randall, and Lynette Suarez and her husband Jason; great grandchildren: Tyler (T.J.), and Leianne Kirchner, Emalynn and Braelyn Mouser and Addalyn Suarez and his sisters-in-law Alvina Hamann and Kathryn Hamann as well as many extended family members and countless close friends. In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharlyn Faye Hamann and three brothers, Kermit, Richard Roy and Marvin Hamann.

The family would like to offer their most sincere gratitude for the care and compassion provided by all the staff and caregivers from Home Instead of Round Rock. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pflugerville, Texas with Pastor Todd Peterson officiating. Interment will follow immediately at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
