Mrs. Candace “Candy” R. Barnes, 47, of Rural Hall, NC, was tragically killed in a head on collision on May 3, 2019 on Highway 19 in Virginia. Candy was born December 18, 1971 to Stephen Slone and Brenda Fields in Norton, VA. She was the wife and soulmate of Brian Barnes, married on October 7, 1990.

Together they have two beautiful children, Jared S. (18) and Tori N. (13). Candy is also survived by her father, Stephen Slone (Goldie); brother, Donnie Slone; two sisters, Amber ton (Jonathan) and Misty Perry; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by grandparents: Junery Willie Slone and Jessie Jean Short Slone; and James Gibson and Maybelle “Nanni” Gibson.

Candy was also followed in death by her mother, Brenda Fields, as a result of the same collision. She graduated from J.J. Kelly High School in 1989. Candy worked at First Citizens Bank for 24 years, where she was loved by all her co-workers and customers.

She enjoyed vacationing with family, watching her son play baseball, and daughter play volleyball, and shopping with her daughter and mother. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, May 10 at Jefferson Christian Church with Rev. Donald Davis officiating.

Private entombment will follow. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 9 at Jefferson Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to First Citizens Bank of King, 604 S Main St., King, NC 27021 or in person at any First Citizens Bank.
