Obituary for Mr. Carl Clifton Sumner age 71, of Keystone Heights Mr. Carl Clifton Sumner age 71, of Keystone Heights passed away at his home Saturday, June 30, 2018. He was born January 7, 1947 in Bradford County to Aaron and Rose (Muse) Sumner. Prior to retirement Carl had owned and operated Carl’s Lawn Service for many years and had also worked in the construction industry.

He was a faithful and longtime member of Highland Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and enjoyed teaching Sunday school class. Carl enjoyed being on a boat fishing but most of all he loved spending every moment he could with his children and grandchild. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Olive; a grandson Cameron Sumner and several siblings.

His survivors are his wife of 35 years Gloria (Wofford) Sumner of Keystone Heights; two daughters Cathy Cornett of Raiford and Lisa Mendoza (Jose) of Fort Meade and one son C.J. Sumner of Interlachen. Also left behind are two sisters Evelyn Booth of Starke, Nancy Jakob of Williston and a step sister Bobbie Gilbin along with seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of additional extended family members and friends. Funeral services for Carl will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Eldon Cornett officiating.

Viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will follow at Keystone Heights Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 12627 San Jose Blvd, Suite 504 Room 504b, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
