Obituary for Carl David Marcum Carl David Marcum, 62, of Fort Gay, WV, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Kings Daughters Medical Center of Ashland, KY. Mr. Marcum was born November 3, 1955 in Jonesville, VA, the son of the late Pete and Fern Burke Marcum. He was a graduate of Berea College and Marshall University.

He was a member of the Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church and a retired agent with the West Virginia Cooperative Extension Service where he served Wayne County for 33 years. Carl leaves behind his wife of almost 35 years, Marsha Webb Marcum; a daughter, Bethany Marcum of Fort Gay, WV; one son, Ben Marcum and wife Ashley of Cattletsburg, KY; and two beautiful granddaughters that he cherished, Rosie and Rylee Marcum. Carl also leaves behind two sisters, Phyllis Hurd of Jonesville, VA and Rita Asbury of East Lynn, WV, and two brothers, Bill Marcum of Greenville, SC and Pete Marcum of Abingdon, VA.

A visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa, KY on Wednesday, April 11, from 6 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church in Prichard, WV with Rev. Randy Ratcliffe officiating. A visitation will also be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Robinette Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA.

Graveside services will immediately follow in the Bledsoe Cemetery in the Wallen’s Creek Community with Billy Marcum officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, Building Fund, Big Hurricane Creek, Prichard, WV, 25555.
