Carlyn’s Obituary Carlyn Kay Taylor Reed was born November 23, 1942, in Hydro, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Carl and Edith Patterson. She went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2019, in Yukon, OK at the age of 76. Carlyn graduated from Hydro High School in 1960 and attended Southwestern State College for one year.
She married Billie Ray Taylor on July 21, 1961. They moved to Oklahoma City where she worked for the Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division for six years. During this time they had two children, daughter, Kimberly and son, Randy.
Carlyn returned to college and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970 from Central State University majoring in Business Education and Spanish. She taught at Western Heights Junior High and High School for nine years during which time she earned her Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling. She and her family moved to Mustang in 1974 and she obtained a position as counselor at Mustang Middle School in 1979.
After serving there for three years, Carlyn transferred to Mustang High School where she served as a counselor until her retirement in 1995. After Billie’s death in 1996, she traveled extensively with a travel club while also working part-time at Oklahoma City Community College as an academic counselor. In 1998 she met Bill E. Reed and they were married November 14, 1998.
They moved to Edmond and lived there until 2013 when they moved to Spanish Cove in Yukon. Carlyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was nine years of age. During her lifetime she was active in several Baptist Churches and for many of those years taught Sunday school.
At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yukon. Carlyn is survived by her husband Bill of the home; one daughter, Kimberly Argenbright and husband Mark of Oklahoma City; one son, Randy Taylor and wife Beth of Mustang; two step-daughters, Sheryl Gentry and husband Rick of Ardmore and Teri Sheehy and husband Dean of Ardmore; one granddaughter; three grandsons; one great-grandson and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Randolph and husband Glenn; many nieces and nephews as well as other family members and friends. In addition to her parents and first husband, she is also preceded in death by a great-niece, Carly Lynn Pueppke.
Viewing will be held Sunday, March 3, 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 4, 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, March 5, 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at First Baptist Church, 15 S. 6th St., Yukon, OK, with a reception to follow. A private service will be held at the Lookeba Cemetery where Carlyn will be laid to rest. The family request memorial donations be made to the Spanish Cove Housing Authority, Employee Scholarship Fund, 11 Palm, Yukon, OK 73099.
