Carmel Callahan was born July 10th, 1939 in Castletown-Beare, County Cork Ireland to John & Lena (Dwyer) O’Sullivan. She is survived by her Loving husband Kevin Callahan and her children Owen Callahan, Brendan Callahan, Deirdre (Callahan) Dennovalis and daughter-in-law Laura Callahan. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan Callahan and Katie Sue & Mary Alice Dennovalis.

She is also survived by her siblings Leo, Aidan, Tony and Eileen O’Sullivan. She is preceded by her loving son Liam Callahan as well as her siblings Mick & Anita O’Sullivan. There are also too many cousins, nieces and nephews to mention… but you know who you are.

Carmel legally immigrated to the United States in 1957 to Boston. She eventually made her way to Norwalk, CT. where she met and married the love of her life Kevin Callahan and raised 4 children Owen, Liam, Brendan & Deirdre.

Mom loved a good joke… even if she rarely got it. She was chronically late to everything and I mean everything, she was even late to her own daughter’s wedding. Quite honestly we had concerns about her making her own funeral.

She Enjoyed singing and tapping to Country & Irish music. She always had the pantry and freezer stocked and I mean stocked. To the point that it would put a doomsday-prepper to shame.

She was, and we’re quite sure still is, painfully blunt and right about now she’s explaining to the good Lord why using his name in vain as well as anyone else’s was absolutely necessary. Mom was much more than what can be said in a short obituary. She was many things to many people and quite a hoot.

But to her family she was and is a beautiful, thoughtful, fun, “challenging”, smart and devoted wife and mother. She will be terribly missed. Her life will be celebrated the way she would’ve wanted it.

With family, friends, food, drink, merriment and a bit of Irish music. To that end we invite all family and friends to join us this Saturday February 2nd at O’Neill’s Irish Pub So. Norwalk, CT at 12 Noon.
