Carol (Catone) Boscia, 80, of Sweet Meadow Drive, Cranston, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Carmeno P. Boscia. Born in Providence, she was daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Sawyer) Catone.

She was a proud graduate of Central High School Class of 1957. Carol was an RDN for Dr. Richard Baronian before taking on her lifetime role of wife, mother, and grandmother. Carol was born with a lipoma in her thoracic spine.

She had surgery when she was 14. As a result of the excessive scar tissue from that surgery, any additional surgery put Carol at greater risk of becoming a quadriplegic. As her ambulation declined, she persisted.

From a cane, to a walker, to a scooter, Carol eventually became wheelchair-dependent and thus dubbed “Mama Wheels”. Her beauty and grace were often compared to Elizabeth Taylor’s and there seemed to be many sightings of her wherever she went! Carol is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Gina and Ted Bogda; her sons and daughters-in-law Carmen and Mona, and Michael and Dawn; her eight grandchildren Carmen, Bianca, Milan, Giovanna, Dean, Arianna, Michael, and Luca; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Anthony and Lucille, Raymond and Joany, Richard and Angela, and Marie, wife of the late Joseph Boscia.

She is preceded in death by her brothers and sister-in-law, Gino and Elaine Catone, and Frank Catone. Whether attending her grandchildren’s many hockey, soccer, or lacrosse games, getting her hair done at Butchie’s, shopping on Route 2, sunbathing in her driveway, leaving long messages on our cell phones or in greeting cards, or inviting us over for meatballs, she was sure to make you smile. So while her presence will be missed, her recipes, her favors, her photo albums, her feathers and her furs will never be forgotten.

Her perseverance, her guidance, and her love of life will eternally inspire us to believe the impossible is possible. Her funeral will be from the Nardolillo Funeral Home and Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, West Warwick at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Tomorrow Fund, 593 Eddy Street, Providence, RI 02903 or Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence Street, West Warwick, RI 02893.
