CAROL MAXSON, 73 of Ogallala, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019, at her home in Ogallala. Carol was born October 2, 1945, at Lewellen, Nebraska to Paul Dewitt and Gladys Violet (Whitteman) Temple. She graduated from Lewellen Rural High School with the class of 1963.

In 1978, when Carol’s sister in law had become ill, Carol moved in with her brother’s family, and helped raise her niece and nephews. She came to be as a second mother to these children, and she deeply cherished the bonds that she had with each of them. Carol married William “Bill” P. Maxson September 3, 1983, and the couple made their home in Ogallala.

She started a pet grooming business called Scallywags Pet Grooming. Carol worked in public transportation for the next 20 years as the Director of Public Transit in Ogallala, and throughout that time, was a member of the Nebraska Association of Transportation Providers, and even served as President for ten years. She was a member of RSVP and was active on the board of directors for five years.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister in law, Bob and Jo Temple; and her former spouse, Bill Maxson. Survivors include her brother, Dick Temple of San Lorenzo, CA; nephews, Rob (Theresa) Temple of Omaha, JD Temple of Delmont, SD, Jet (Suzie) Temple of York; niece, Kathy (Mark) Denning of Sparks, NV; great-nieces and nephews, Josh (Meera), Jonathan (Alyssa), Jessica (fiance, Elijah), Zach, Brandi, and Mackenzie; her beloved Pekingese, Yeti; as well as with many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Joy Mission, 401 W 3rd St., Julesburg, CO 80737.

Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com. Memorial services will be on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lewellen United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in the Plum Creek Cemetery northeast of Lewellen.
