Carole Wood McIntire, 83, resident of Copper Ridge in Sykesville, Maryland, formerly of Westminster, died peacefully surrounded by her family at Carroll Hospital Center on Friday, December 14, 2018. Born on May 14, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John Wood and Doris Henley (Hankins) Wood and former wife of the late T. Bryan McIntire. Carole had a brilliant mind and was a 1955 Ford scholar and graduate of Goucher College.

She was formerly a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. Her daughters remember her as a proud and supportive mother who brought creativity, fun, energy and passion to all she endeavored. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Copper Ridge for all of their care.

Surviving are daughters, Lee McIntire Sachs of Woodstock, Carole Leslie McIntire of Bethesda, Laurie McIntire Penn of New Windsor, Lynnette McIntire Hansel of Westminster, and Lisa Digges McIntire of Woodstock; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster. Burial will follow in the Westminster Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carole McIntire to the Parkinson’s Foundation, or Integrace Activity Program at Copper Ridge, 710 Obrecht Rd. , Sykesville, MD 21784 (copperridge.org) or a neurological charity of your choice.
