Sibson, age 99, Beardsley, MN, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, at Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, SD. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, May 15, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Beardsley with Father Brian Oestreich officiating. Music will be provided by organist Deb Farwell and vocalists Sue Sykora and Kelsey Holtz.

Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beardsley. Honorary urn bearers will be Caroline’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Active urn bearers will be Caroline’s sons, Rodney and Clair.

Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. followed by an 8:00 p.m. rosary service. Visitation will continue Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD, is in charge of the arrangements.

Caroline Agnes was born March 30, 1919, to Nicholas and Katherine (Schmit) Hemmer in Lismore, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lismore. Caroline attended country school in Kenneth, MN.

She was a member of the Catholic church in Kenneth and later at Lismore. The family moved to a farm near Luverne in 1937. On February 18, 1941, Caroline married Vern Sibson.

They made their home on a farm near Kenneth, MN. In 1947, she moved with her husband and family to a farm near Beardsley. To this union four sons were born.

They moved to Madison, MN, for ten years and returned to Beardsley in 1998. Vern passed away in 2000. Caroline lived in the Grace Village, Grace Home and most recently the Browns Valley Health Center.

Caroline was a member of the CCW at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Caroline and Vern wintered in Texas for 20 years. She enjoyed dancing, baking, sewing and playing cards.

She was always faithful at keeping a diary. Survivors include her sons, Rodney Sibson of Milbank, SD, and Clair (Ann) Sibson of Beardsley; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two step great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; sons, Loryn and Leon; a grandchild, Wade Sibson; three brothers; and five sisters.
