Obituary for Carolyn Brisby Mason Funeral services for Carolyn B. Mason, 85, of Frankfort will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Browning officiating. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Carolyn was born December 22, 1932 to Grace Elizabeth Culver and Richard Anderson Brisby in Smith Mills, Kentucky and when she was nine years old, moved to Union County. She graduated from Morganfield High School in 1951 and began work at South Central Bell. In 1953, she met the love of her life, Tom Pryor Mason, as he returned from his duty in the Korean war.
They married in 1954 and had three sons in the next thirteen years. They were married for sixty-two years. Tom’s job took him to Bowling Green and then to Frankfort with the Department of Transportation in 1966.
In 1973 Carolyn became the secretary to the counselors at Franklin County High School, retiring after 24 years. Mrs. Mason’s family was involved in First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for thirty-five years. Her church and family were the most important things in her life.
Her love of God and family took first place. Carolyn loved playing bridge, doing needle work, walking and traveling. She was an avid sports fan, especially where her children were concerned.
She loved U.K. and the Boston Red Sox. Ms. Mason was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom, and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include her three sons, Rick (Diane), of Frankfort, Clay (Jane), of Lawrenceburg, and Stephen (Lara) Mason, of Frankfort; grandchildren, Thomas Cary, Lucas Pryor, Zachary Clay, Marjorie Grace, James Anderson (Kendal), Hallee Elizabeth, and Stephen Parks Mason; brother, Prentice (Libby) Brisby, of Morganfield; and sister, Frances (Billy) Morris, of Owensboro.
