Carolyn Christine “Pat” Mathis Brown, 66, of Rome died on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Floyd Medical Center following several months of declining health. Pat was born in Calhoun on January 24, 1952. She was the daughter of the late William Wiley Mathis and Hazel Reed Raines.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Mathis, Jimmy Mathis, and Danny Raines. Pat was a member of the Adairsville Church of God. She worked, most recently, at Lowes in Rome; she had also worked at American Rug in Sugar Valley.

She enjoyed fishing. Pat deeply loved her family and friends and helping them was her passion. She treasured spending time with “Little Man”.

Pat is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Cynthia Brown; her daughters and son-in-law, Kelly and Brent Gibson, Stacia Brown, and Shanna Brown; her brothers and sister-in-law, William “Joe” and Kathy Mathis, Lewis Mathis, and Willard David Mathis; her sister and brother-in-law, Frankie and Kenneth Wilson; her grandchildren, Johnny Reed, Chris Swafford, Kadey Taylor, Brandy Cordell, Shelby Sewell, Dakota Cordell, Caleb Gibson, and Tiffany Baldwin; her great grandchildren, Ian, Noah, Matthew, Kaizer, and Max; her good friend, Lou Hill; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The Brown family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Friday, September 28th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pastor Ken Coomer will officiate. Pallbearers are Brandon Mathis, Brandon Sewell, Josh Wilson, Dakota Cordell, Buster Reed, Ricky Reed, and Caleb Gibson; honorary pallbearers are Chris Swafford and Tristan Hiles. Friends may sign the online guest register at www.
