Carolyn Joyce Embry, 74, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away at 2:37 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2018 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. She was born in White County, IL on October 15, 1944 the daughter of Theodore R. and Ada V. (Stewart) Duvall. Joyce married Gerald Lee “Jerry” Embry on December 19, 1981.

She was a LPN at various places and a member of Georgia General Baptist Church. Joyce enjoyed flowers and spending time with her granddaughter. Joyce is survived by her husband, Jerry; two sons, Thomas Clay (Donna) Shepherd, of Chattanooga, TN and James Kellen, of Nashville, TN; brother, Theodore David (Janet) Duvall, of Carmi; three sisters, Marilyn Hawkins, Wanda Buttery and Vonda (Louis) Bingman, all of Carmi; granddaughter, Breanna (Nathan) Harvey and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Donald Scott Shepherd. Funeral services for Carolyn Joyce Embry, 74, of Elizabethtown, KY, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday. June 1, 2019 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.

Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s memory to Pet’s at Risk and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
