Obituary for Carolyn Marie Rich Carolyn Marie Shoemake Rich, age 78, passed peacefully on April 17, 2018, at her home in Combine, Texas, after bravely battling cancer for two decades. She had immense courage and strength, and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Carolyn’s family was very important to her; she loved hosting and attending family gatherings.

Her beautiful, caring smile was evidence of her beauty inside and out. She had a large circle of friends, made friends everywhere and enjoyed looking after others in her community. One of her passions was growing and sharing her heirloom flowers and antique roses.

She enjoyed embroidering and taught both granddaughters to enjoy the skill. She instilled a love of reading in her children and grandchildren. Carolyn was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

Carolyn attended Boswell and Hugo High Schools and married Bobby J. Rich on April 27, 1957 in Boswell, OK. She was as an office administrator in the medical field and was of the Presbyterian faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley Clark Shoemake and Irene Jewel Stillwell.

Survivors include her loving husband Bobby Jerrel Rich of the home; son, Danny Jerrel Rich and wife Sheryl of Georgetown, TX; daughter, Tonya Rich McQuaid and husband Wayne of Wimberley, TX; three brothers, Marvin Shoemake and wife Joann of Soper, OK, Hollis Shoemake and wife Susie of Powderly, TX, and John Shoemake and wife Sharon of Rockdale, TX; sister, Linda Herndon and husband Jimmie of Sunnyvale, TX; grandchildren, Clay Rich and wife Shelby, Callianne Deschner and husband Mark, Carter McQuaid and wife Hayley, and Carley Rich; great-grandchildren, Ava, Sadie, and Della Marie along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. There will be a private celebration of life for family at the Bennington Old Church Cemetery in Bennington, Oklahoma. Flowers may be sent to Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Cremation services are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
