Carolyn Ward Pursley-Shell was born in Coweta County on September 6, 1933. Her parents were the late H. E. and Emma Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, James M. Pursley, Sr. Later in life, she was married to William Harmon Shell for almost seven years until his death in 2010.

Carolyn retired from International Playtex; having worked there for 25 years. Carolyn is survived by her children, Jennie Pursley Gillihan, Laura Pursley Cash (and Tommy), James M. “Bo” Pursley, Jr. (and LeeAnne). Her grandchildren are Rebecca Stone McCullough, Megan Lynn Stone, Jason (and Katie) Cash, Taylor (and Ansley) Cash, Brogan (and Quint) Batson, Keegan H. Pursley.

There are 11 great grandchildren. Friends and family will gather at McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street on Monday, May 6th beginning at 10:00 AM for a time of visitation and sharing memories. Her life will be celebrated at a service in the McKoon Chapel at 11:30 AM to be led by Reverend David Patrick, Pastor of Elim Baptist Church.

Interment will follow at historic Oak Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www. mckoon.com.
