Carroll Gene Hilliard, 76, was born August 8, 1941 in Muskegon, MI. He left this world to be with the lord and awaiting loved ones on Thursday, June 14, 2018. He had touched many lives before leaving this world and will be dearly missed.

Gene served this great nation in the U.S. Army for over 8 years. Gene moved to Florida around 1976 and worked for many years as a carpenter and master painter for Jim Walter Homes. In his retirement years he loved karaoke and singing.

Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Marcum) Hilliard, parents Henry and Margaret (Morris) Hilliard, son Richard “Ricky” Hilliard and brother Roger Hilliard. He is survived by his brother James (Cathy) Hilliard; daughter, Jennifer Heckman (Chuck Kinkhead); son, William (Bonnie) Smith, grandchildren Shelby and Roger Heckman, Kolten and Kaden Smith; many cousins, nieces, nephews extended family members and numerous friends. Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the VFW post in Orange Lake, 19241 N US HWY 441, Orange Lake, FL 32681, with Reverend EJ Nichols officiating.

Graveside military honors will be held at the Southern Home Baptist Church, 14748 N Magnolia Ave, Citra, FL 32113, following the Memorial service. Arrangements under the care of Countryside Funeral Home.
