Obituary for Catherine Kruger Catherine M. Kruger, 91 of Glen Avenue, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Friday morning, September 7, 2018 at home. Born in Amsterdam on October 16, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Margaret A. Whalen Kruger. Catherine received her education at St. Joseph’s Elementary School, and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School.

She retired in 1989 from New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany, NY. Catherine was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church. She was a member of Am-Vets Auxiliary in Amsterdam and CSEA Local 925.

Catherine is survived by one niece, Diana Mannolini, one nephew, David Kruger (Mary), two great grand nephews, Lawrence Mannolini and Christopher Kruger, one cousin Richard Smitka III (Georgiann). Catherine was also predeceased by five brothers, Harris, John, Walter, Charles and Richard Kruger and one cousin, David Smitka. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the funeral service.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, September 12, 2018 at 10:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; followed at 11:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, with Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Catherine’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Institute, 10 Kopernick Boulevard, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
