Waterville-Catherine O’Donnell Borucki , 97, passed away peacefully at her home on June 23, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 10, 1920, in Bath, Maine, the fourth of seven children of beloved parents Patrick and Marie O’Donnell. Catherine was raised and educated in Waterville, and graduated from Waterville High School in 1938.

Catherine enlisted in the U.S. Navy WAVES IN 1943, an organization of women who filled jobs on land while the men were at sea. After attending Navy Radio School at the University of Wisconsin, in Madison Wisconsin, she became a teletype operator and radioman third class.
She was stationed at the U.S. Naval Base, Floyd Bennett Airfield in New York City. Catherine was proud of her service and always felt the people of New York City were so appreciative to all the service men and women. She served at the air base until the end of the war in December 1945, and communicated the message that the war was over.
Upon returning to Waterville, she met her future husband, Walter Borucki, who was attending Colby College after his service in the Army. They were married in August of 1946, had two daughters and were happily married for 67 years. Catherine was a homemaker throughout her life, who took pride in raising her family.
They enjoyed many years of skiing together at Sugarloaf Mountain with friends. She was an avid reader, and loved quilting, sewing, embroidery and needlepoint. She also had lots of fun memories playing tennis with “the girls”.
Catherine was predeceased by her husband Walter, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her sister, Germaine Drake of Waterville, Her two daughters, Eileen Page and her husband William of Merritt Island, Florida and Susan Lasquade and her husband George of Saugus, Mass. ; four grandchildren: Sean and Adam Page and Erin and Kevin Lasquade.
Also left to cherish the memory of their “Grammy Kay” are her three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Wyatt and Brady Page. Catherine was a loving mother and a kind, gentle and wise lady. A proud “Mainer”, she will be missed by all.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Maine General Home Health and Hospice for all their care and support, and to the V.A. Home Health Care for their many years of wonderful care. Visiting hours will be held from 6 – 8 P.M. Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the Gallant Funeral Home 10 Elm Street Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Monday, July 2, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, 70 Pleasant Street Waterville.
Committal prayers with military honors will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday July 25, 2018 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences expressed at www.
