Obituary for Charles A. “Charley” Blandford Charles A. Blandford passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the age of 90. Charley was born on December 10, 1928 to Addie Lee (Atkins) Blandford and Andrew Silcox Blandford in the area of Boldtville, Texas and remained a life-long resident there. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lee (Blandford) Toothman and Chester Toothman; brother and sister-in-law, John Day Blandford and Margie Blandford; and brothers-in-law, John Quincy Adams and Oliver Dillard.

Charley was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950. He met the love of his life Lorene Padalecki in early spring of 1952 at Lubianski Dance Hall during a Paul Jones dance. Charley and Lorene were wed on June 21, 1952 in St. Hedwig, Texas.

After serving in the army, he returned to his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone, and later retired after 37 years of service to AT&T. Along with raising four children, Charley was a farmer, cattle rancher, and avid deer hunter. He is known for his ability to fix just about anything, sometimes needing only a few pieces of baling wire.

He also shared his love of music and dancing with his wife of 66 years, attending events with Lonestar Fiddler’s Association. They were also lifetime members of the Mesquite Trail Drivers Association, enjoying their monthly dances. Charley is survived by his loving wife Lorene (Padalecki) Blandford; children, Andrew J. Blandford (Laura), Mary Rose Kruciak (Greg), Lovene A. Fey (Ronald) and Mark O. Blandford (Laura); grandchildren, Chane Blandford, Kristen Rumfield, Brandon Kruciak, Andrew Blandford, Steven Kocurek, Kasie Tankersley, Brittany Sumner, Darren Fey, Chelsea Blandford, and Shelby Sells; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the area.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019, 5:00pm-8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia, Texas. FUNERAL SERVICE Friday, January 25, 2019 10:00am Boldtville Presbyterian Church Boldtville, Texas Burial will follow at Cover Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Serving as Pallbearers are Chane Blandford, Brandon Kruciak, Andrew Blandford, Steven Kocurek, Darren Fey, Brandon Rumfield, Bradley Tankersley, Brandon Sumner and Kyle Sells.
