Funeral services for Charles Ross Harne will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, MN. The Reverend Jennifer Gonsalves will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Charles passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Thorne Crest in Albert Lea following a heroic battle with bladder cancer. He was 62 years old.

Charles “Chuck” Harne was born on October 8, 1956 in Albert Lea, MN to Floyd and Harriet (Anderson) Harne. He grew up and attended school in Albert Lea. He stayed in the Albert Lea community his whole life and lived in a Crest Home Services group home.

Chuck worked for Cedar Valley Services over 43 years. Chuck was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. He was involved in SPIRE (Special People In Religious Education), where his faith would continue to grow.

Chuck loved being the Camel Herder for the annual ARC Nativity Program. He was active in ARC of Freeborn County. Chuck was a Special Olympics athlete and proud state champion bowler Each summer he had a garden at his home.

Chuck would display his talents at the county fair, with exhibits from his flower and vegetable garden along with other arts and crafts that he enjoyed creating. Anyone who knew Chuck in his younger days knew that whenever possible, Chuck would ride his bike around the neighborhood. Chuck enjoyed music through song and dances, traveling, family gatherings and always loved going out to eat!

A favorite memory of Chuck’s was being able to drive the Duck Boats at the Wisconsin Dells with Nancy, Joan, and other friends. He loved people and he loved life. The family will always cherish his smile and twinkle in his eye.

He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Harne; infant brother, David James Harne; sister in-law, Vickie Harne; both sets of grandparents and other relatives. Charles is survived by his loving mother, Harriet Harne of Albert Lea; siblings, Lyle Harne of Albert Lea, Roxanne (Mark) Sauter of Cannon Falls, MN, Rhonda (Bruce) Bennett of Owatonna, MN and Brad (Lois) Harne of St. Charles, MN; nieces and nephews, Andy Harne, Kate (Aaron) Kardell, Ben Harne, Josh (Katie) Sauter, Cassie (Jacob) Anderson, Carrie Sauter (Amado Martinez), Lindsey Harne (Tim Johnson), Paige Harne, and Ethan Harne; 12 great nieces and nephews; as well as several special friends at Crest Services. Blessed be his memory!
