He graduated from Haltom City High School in 1962 and received a football scholarship to TCU where he earned a degree in Business Administration. Sonny’s leadership and talent propelled him to the All-Conference team in the Southwest Conference for two years, and also to captain of the Horned Frog team. He was honored to be inducted into the TCU Football Hall of Fame in 1989, and he remained a proud Horned Frog all of his life.

Sonny retired from Pitney Bowes in 2001, after 35 years of leadership. Taking the company to new levels of growth as Executive Vice President of Sales and developing new leaders who followed after him. As a longtime member of Colonial Country Club, Sonny cherished his time playing golf with family and friends, having a talent for reading the greens, but never getting bent out of shape from an errant shot.

No place on earth held his affection more than the ranch. For those fortunate enough to be on the boat with Sonny, you came away with fishing and life lessons worth their weight in gold. Sonny was a man who understood and showed what grace looked like in action.

He knew the immense grace he received from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. From his humble roots grew his unending appreciation for the gifts God blessed him with. Always content with what he had, always seeing the good in others and quietly giving to those less fortunate than himself.

Sonny loved life in a big way. He worked hard, loved unconditionally and encouraged others. He believed in and exemplified a strong work ethic and an incredibly positive attitude.

He carried a voice of authority. He was deeply loyal to the people, places and institutions that he held dear. Sonny loved his Lord, his family, his friends, his country, Texas, Fort Worth, TCU, the family ranch, good music, good food and a good time.
