Charles E. Evans, age 61, of Adrian, MI, passed away October 7, 2018. He was born May 12, 1957, in Adrian, MI, the son John & Hattie Mae Ragland. Charles was a graduate of Adrian High School where he was the State Wrestling Champion in 1973.

Charles taught at Adrian High School for seventeen years. He also coached wrestling, track and football at Madison High School, Adrian High School and Siena Heights University. Charles was the first wrestler to be inducted to the Lenawee County Wrestling Hall of Fame.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and volunteering in the community. He is survived by his two daughters, Joslyn Evans and Joceia Evans, his siblings, Roosevelt (Gloria) Putten, Mae Helen Evans and Carolyn Evans and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Hattie Mae Ragland and sister, Thelma Williams.

Funeral Services will be held 5:00 PM Friday, October 12, 2018, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. Cremation will follow. Visitation will also be on Friday from 3:00 PM until the time of service.

A dinner will be held at Adrian High School cafeteria following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Charlie’s daughters, Joslyn & Joceia Evans.
