OBITUARY Charles Edward Cancienne August 12, 1954 – September 3, 2018 Charlie Cancienne was born in Baton Rouge, LA, on August 12, 1954, to Emile A. and Mildred Cancienne. In his 64 years, he left a legacy of kindness, generosity, humor, and fascinating wit and storytelling which he used to brighten the hearts of anyone he met. With his warm smile and adventurous spirit, he made everyone feel special and never met a stranger.

Lovable and joyful, Uncle Charlie will be greatly missed by his friends and family including his many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Charlie was employed by BREC at the Baton Rouge Zoo for 24 years, where he inspired us all with his love and knowledge of animals and offered exclusive backstage tours of the exhibits. Later, he was a dedicated employee at Custom Metal Works.

An LSU sports fan, he wouldn’t miss a baseball or football game. He will be remembered as an avid bird, animal, and music lover. But, his greatest pride was his family.

Charlie passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Ochsner Hospital, after a sudden illness. He is survived by siblings, David Cancienne and partner, Susan Orillion, Cynthia Eastwood, Susan Flynn and husband Jeff, Bill Cancienne and wife, Peg, Kay Aucoin, and his much loved nieces and nephews. Charlie is reunited with his beloved parents; brother-in-law, Cedric Aucoin; and long-time friend, Ted LeBlanc.

Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. , Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, September 7, 2018, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. Visitation will resume at Greenoaks on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 9:00AM until the time of funeral services at 10:00AM.
