Obituary for Charles H. Romain Jr. Dateline: Alton Charles H. Romain Jr., 82, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at his home in Alton. Born December 26, 1935 in Alton, he was the son of Charles and Maud (Porter) Romain Sr Mr. Romain proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Tahlequah, OK, the American Legion Post 126, and the Onized Club. He loved being outdoors and was an avid fisherman. On April 29, 1960 he married the former Ramona S. Perez in Alton.

She survives. Also surviving are four children, Victoria Brown (Richard) of Alton, Roxanne Hart (Keith) of Portage, IN, Scott Romain (Barb) of Meadowbrook, and Kaylee Romain of Tahlequah, OK, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, a sister, Sandy Miller of Florida. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica Romain, a son, Allen Romain, one brother, Jeff Romain and two sisters, Joan Syddall and Betty Chevez.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018. His grandson, Reverend Samuel Brown will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308.
