Obituary for Helen I. Bazzell Dateline: Alton, IL Helen I. Bazzell, 88, died at 8:05 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at her residence. She was born June 18, 1930 in Greene County, IL the daughter of the late William O. and Laura L. (Lovell) Gilmore. Helen worked as a mental health therapist at the Alton State Hospital throughout the 60’s and 70’s.

After serving as a management coordinator in several pro-life group homes within the U.S., Helen retired in her mid seventies. One of Helen’s fondest passions included sky diving and zip lining. Several of her grandchildren intend to sky dive this year in her honor.

Helen is survived by her three children, Laura Tellier of Alton, Brandon Bazzell (Katy) of TX, and Timothy Bazzell (Barbara) of Alton, nine grandchildren, Heather, Jamie, Michael, Kennedy, Thomas, Matthew, Charlie, Sarah and Elizabeth and six great grandchildren, Jeremy, Britany, Joseph, Eleanor, Sean Michael and Evie. A memorial mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Father John Luong officiating.
