Obituary for Katie Forsythe Dateline: Alton Katie Forsythe, 93, died at 7:35 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto. Born April 4, 1925 in Cadiz, Kentucky, she was the daughter of James R. and Edna (Aldridge) Bruce. Katie was a homemaker and a member of the Sanford Avenue Baptist Church in Alton.

On December 12, 1945 she married Marvin Forsythe in Kentucky. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Blenda Newbury of Bethalto, and Norma Miles (Randy) of Roxana, two grandchildren, Shawn Newbury of Monroe, LA, and Mike Lewis (Natalie) of Hartford, three great grandchildren, Brittani Melton (Damon), Allison Lewis, and Jared Newbury, and two great great grandchildren, Addison Melton and Cayson Lewis.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jim Newbury, three brothers, Wallace, Bogard and Herman Bruce, and a sister, Rowena Bruce. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Pastor Dan Bowers will officiate.

Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.
