Obituary for Judy Karen Cogan Dateline: Alton, IL Judy Karen Cogan, 72, died at 8:05 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center. She was born December 27, 1945 in Alton the daughter of Frank J. and Anna (Hellrung) Cogan Sr. Before retiring from Payless Shoe Source, Judy had spent many years in retail and provided home health care to her mother. Judy lived at Marian Heights apartments for many years.

She actively participated in social events and activities within her community. Along with her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brother Frank J. Cogan Jr, a sister Betty (Cogan) Gutierrez, and a brother who died in infancy. Judy is survived by a sister-in-law Jane Cogan of Alton; brother in law Joe Gutierrez of Godfrey; a nephew, Robert Cogan (Suzanne); three nieces; Melissa Cogan of Alton, Denise Woolsey (Ben) of Jerseyville and Mary Weller of Alton, she is also survived by her great-nieces and nephews, Kate Cogan, Samuel Cogan, Max Cogan and Cody Miller.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton. Father Jeremy Paulin will officiate.
