Charles (Chuck) Kerkorian passed on February 11, 2019. He was born on February 4, 1931, and grew up as part of a loving Armenian family in Waukegan, Illinois. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, and attended Northern Illinois University and Chicago Teachers’ College.

Chuck taught both elementary and high school history and geography throughout his long career. His first teaching assignment was at Little Fort Elementary School in his hometown of Waukegan. He met Betty in the school lunchroom while both were teaching at Taft High School in Chicago.

They continued to have lunch together—and married in 1976—and shared school lunches for the next 21 years. Chuck loved meeting people and many of his friendships lasted his whole life. He met many of his friends during rounds of golf, tennis, and handball.

He had a wonderfully inquisitive mind and supportive spirit. He generously welcomed Betty’s mother and son into their new home. Chuck enjoyed gambling, including a deep interest in stocks and investments.

Nightclub entertainment was a favorite, and Chuck knew the words to every Frank Sinatra song ever recorded. He will be missed by all of us.
