Obituary for Charles Long Dr. Charles E. Long passed away peacefully on June 9, 2018 at the age of 99. Born in Piqua, Ohio to the Rev. Simon and Martha Long, he was the fourth of seven children.

As a young paperboy he carried the news that Lindbergh had crossed the Atlantic. Chuck was a Purple Heart Veteran of World War II. After the war, he met and married Edith Sherer.

Chuck was a graduate of Capital University and the Ohio State University School of Medicine. He had a general practice on the east side of Columbus. In the early years, Dr. Long delivered many babies.

He lived in Bexley and was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church. Chuck was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Edie. He is survived by his children, John (Connie Doyle) Long, Suzi (Larry) Michaels, Jeff (Betsy) Long, and Nancy (Jeff Boehm) Long.

He had six grandsons, Adam (Amanda), Ben (Courtney), Brandon (Hannah), and Nathan Long, and Steven and Greg Boehm. Also surviving are his granddaughter, Christy Doyle, and brother, Paul Long. Chuck was a resident of Kensington Place for the last 16 years, where he sang in the chorus and had many friends, including the late Christine Peterson.

The funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 13 at 1:00 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 E. Main St., Bexley, OH. Visitation will take place at the church at noon. Tributes may be given to the church.
