“Chief”-Age 91 of Cottontown passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at his home. He was born May 31, 1927 in Sumner County, TN to Nathan Montgomery and Rosa Lee Callis Birdwell. He worked as a farmer and as a truck driver.

He was a member of Birdwell’s Chapel Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Rosa Birdwell; brothers Floyd, J.W. and Bobby Lee Birdwell; sisters, Willie Sue Braswell, Lela Ruth Stancil and Emma Jean Birdwell; infant grandson, Samuel Edwin Marberry. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Frances Parker Birdwell; children, Janice Parks, Ronnie (Linda) Birdwell, Shirley (Rex) Graves, Virginia (Rod) Stamps, Angie (Michael) Marberry; brothers, Wayne Birdwell and Kenneth Birdwell; sisters, Betty Scruggs and Brenda Smith 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funderal arrangements are incomplete at this time. THis obituary will be updated when arrangements are finalized. Memorial contributions are requested to Birdwell’s Chapel Church of Christ Building Fund.
