Charles “Red”‘s Obituary Charles Decatur “Red” Williams , his love of life on this earth ended on January, 29, 2019. He was born January 9, 1927 in Gloucester, Virginia. He was 92.

Charles was predeceased and only child of his parents Herbert Stanley Williams and Sadie Catherine Williams Richards and his wife the love of his life of 45 years Lorraine Virginia Howlett Williams. A second wife Margaret Parker Williams. Surviving and leaving many memories to cherish is his daughter Donna Williams Schenk and husband Ronnie, of Suffolk, Va.

his grandchildren, which he loved dearly, Brian Jason and Dawn Annas Schenk of Norwalk CT and Arran Brooke Schenk of Wilmington NC. A Son Charles Ronald Williams and wife Jo of Cummings, Ga. Two loving nieces Vickey Howlett Taylor and Teresa Howlett Kelly.

His dedicated caregiver and friend for many years, Sheryl Blalock and husband Harold. A very special thank you to Chaplain Gary Newsome of Lake Prince Woods and Pastor Rich Meiser of Main Street United Methodist Church in Suffolk ,Va. The kitchen staff and many many helpful and friendly staff at Lake Prince Woods Apartments, and the compassionate care from all the caregiver/friends he trusted and loved from Home Instead and Heartland Hospice.

Charles (Red) was born and raised in Gloucester Va. He attended Achilles High School. After graduation he enlisted in the Army Air Force and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska for 4 years.

Charles and Lorraine married and resided in Richmond Va then moved to Newport News Va. where he worked for Newport News Business Machine (typewriters and adding machines) as a salesman then moved to Suffolk Va in 1964 where he was founder and owner of Suffolk Business Machines until retirement in 1985. He loved to travel and did so to many states on cross country trips and traveled to Italy twice through high sales with Olivetti Underwood Typewriters.

Even though he was legally blind he still enjoyed the Opera and travels to the Ferguson Center and Smithfield Little Theatre. He attend Vespers and Bible Study. He loved his church and his Lord.

He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club. Red also rang the Salvation Army Bell at Christmas for many years. He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church.

He lived at Lake Prince Woods for 16 years and was on several committees. Charles (Red) loved people and his favorite duty was the welcoming committee at LPW. He treasured the many friends he had and loved for them to stop by anytime.

He also considered the staff there his true friends and truly loved them. Red was a very giving person and has donated his body to the Virginia State Anatomical Program to better the lives of others. A memorial service will be held at Lake Prince Woods in the Portsmouth Center Room at 100 Anna Goode Way, Suffolk, Va.
