Charles’ Obituary Memorial Services for Charles Robert Dunning Jr., 58, of Fairview, will be 3 p.m., Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the American Legion Building, in Fairview. Reverend Kurtis Ivey will officiate. Cremation Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. Charles was born July 1st, 1960 in Tacoma, Washington, to Charles Robert and Margaret (Berg) Dunning Sr. and peacefully passed from this life on March 27th, 2019 at his home in Fairview, Oklahoma.

Charles grew up in several different places as his dad moved around with work. He graduated from Enid High School in 1978. After high school Charles worked different odd jobs in Enid and married Marilyn Martin.

With a baby on the way Charles joined the United States Air Force and became an Administrative Specialist. After completing tech school he was assigned to Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. 6 years later Charles was Honorably Discharged and Charles and Marilyn moved to Denver Colorado where he worked as a manager of a Pizza Hut.

A short time later they moved back to Enid. Charles and Marilyn got a divorce after moving back to Enid. Three years later he met April Leathers and they dated for the next year and in 1996 they got married in Woodward, Oklahoma.

Charles and April made their home in Fairview after the wedding and work for Lavern Kelly in Enid as an auto body repairman. He also worked out of his home doing body work in Fairview. For several years he work in Auto body repair and loved it.

In 2005 he went to work for the City of Fairview. In 2008 he had and accident and was severely injured. He worked for the city for 8 years and then went to work in the oil field as a mechanic and then he went to work for Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT).

Charles was always young at heart and loved to tell a good joke and never met a stranger. He was a loving father and was always so proud of his family. He would drop everything he was doing in an instant to help others especially his children.

He truly enjoyed working on vehicles and fixing things. Charles was a loving husband, father and friend to many and will be truly missed. Charles is survived by his wife April of the home, three sons: Eric and Jessica Dunning, of Florida, Brian and Jennifer Dunning of Edmond, and David and Jessica Leathers of Fairview, one granddaughter Destinie Leathers, two brothers, Jimmy and Frances Miller and John and Angela Garrison, and two sisters, Laura and Les Foust and Tresa and Jim Key.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Charles Dunning and one brother Mark Garrison, and step father Bud Garrison. Memorial donations may be made to OMRF Epilepsy Division with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. serving as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be made online at www.
