Charles William Bryant, age 86 of Clanton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Columbiana Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Alabama on June 19, 1932; son of the late Dosh Bryant and the late Victoria Pierce Bryant. Aside from Charles’ loving devotion to his family, he had an enduring love for Jesus.

He was a devoted member of Bethsalem Baptist Church, where he has served as a deacon since 1967. Charles spent time as missionary, serving on 4 overseas mission trips and was also a member of Campers on Mission, where he helped to build churches all over. He and his wife, Gladys spent 7 years traveling between sea ports in Brunswick, GA and Jacksonville, FL, participating in a sea fort ministry known as Seamen Fort Ministries.

Charles was also an Army veteran, serving in the Korean War (1950-1953). He was retired from AT&T after 32 years of service as a technician. He also served as an elected Chilton County Commissioner for 2 terms and another term appointed by Gov.

Bob Riley. Charles will be deeply missed by his family, his church, and his community. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gladys Robinson Bryant of Clanton; Children, Randy (Jennifer) Bryant of Hayden, AL and Lori (Greg) McClellan of Millbrook; Grandchildren, Victoria (Trent) Carboni of Auburn, Courtney Hanna of Calera, Brittany (Chris) Page of Newton, AL, Heather McCandless of Madison, AL, and Gavin (Bethany) McCandless of Chelsea, AL; Great-grandchildren, Naomi Gayle, Ansley Grace, Knox Alexander, Colby, and Chloe; Sister-in-law, Betty Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dosh and Victoria Bryant; Son, John Herbert Bryant; and Father and Mother-in-law, Otis and Inez Robinson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00am from the Bethsalem Baptist Church in Billingsley with Rev. Bobby DuBois, Rev.

Zachary Martin, and Rev. Cleve Mallory officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm at the church. Final care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home of Clanton. www.
