OBITUARY Charles William Gill February 10, 1919 – October 22, 2018 Charles William “Bill” Gill of Coshocton died Monday, October 22, 2018. Born on February 10, 1919, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Catherine (Cantwell) Gill. A Coshocton High School graduate, class of 1937, Mr. Gill married Ellen J. Hunter on July 20, 1941, who preceded him in death on October 25, 1995.

He was a 90 year member of The Presbyterian Church, Coshocton. Mr. Gill retired from The Ohio Power Company, now AEP, in January 1983 after 44. 5 years of service.

He was a World War II US Army veteran having served in the European Theater of Operations, as a Technical Sergeant with the Signal Corps. After landing in Normandy following D-day in 1944, he took part later that year in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Gill was honorably discharged in October 1945.

He was a member of The American Legion and VFW. Bill was a charter member of the Lettermen’s Association. He coached Little League Football for 50 years and both boys’ and girls’ junior high basketball teams for Coshocton.

He served as a Boy Scout leader both in Warsaw and Coshocton. He was a member of the football chain gang for Coshocton High School for 50 years. Mr. Gill was also preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Gill Bell and Virginia Gill Parrish.

He is survived by three sons William Hunter (Susan Felver) Gill, James Patrick (Mary Ann Conrad) Gill, and Jeffrey Stuart Gill, all of Coshocton; two grandchildren; Jon Jay Gill of Coshocton and Mary Ellen Gill (Kenneth Copozzi) of Southbury, CT; and two great grandchildren, Hunter Sebastian and Elliot Joseph Capozzi. Special friends include Joan and Steve Schlegel, Dick Amann and Linda Taylor. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, October 25, at 11 AM in Valley View Cemetery, Warsaw.

The family would like to thank Signature Health Care and Hospice of Coshocton for their compassionate care. Memorial donations may be made to The Presbyterian Church Abiding Memorial Fund or Hospice of Coshocton County.
