OBITUARY Charles William Leary Jr. September 29, 1954 – January 6, 2019 PLYMOUTH – Charles William “Billy” Leary Jr., 64, died Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Palmetto Health Hospital in Columbia, SC. Billy was born September 29, 1954 to the late Charles William “Bill” Leary Sr. and Magdalene “Chubby” Wynn Leary in Martin County, NC. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a Seabee for four years.

Billy was a skilled carpenter, a passion that he acquired from his father. An avid sports fan, he coached his children’s soccer teams for many years. He is survived by his children, Ashley Leary Sumerel and husband Daniel of Williamston, NC and Sean Clayton “Clay” Leary and husband Trey of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Renette Leary Ruffin of Plymouth, NC and Michele Leary Phelps and husband Jeremy of Merry Hill, NC; and granddaughter, Harper Barrett Sumerel.

In keeping with his wishes, the family will be having a private celebration of his life and afterwards will receive guests at the home of his sister, Renette at 17 Carl Dr. Plymouth, NC 27962 on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
