Obituary for Mr. Charlie Brown, Jr. Charlie Brown, Jr passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 in Pasadena, Texas. He was born on September 4, 1927 to Charley Harrison Brown and Rosa Lee Fuller Brown In rural Titus County, Texas. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1945 in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
In 1950 he married Dorothy Lee Holland at a Methodist Church in Pasadena, Texas. They were married for 47 years until the death of his wife on January 22, 1997. Charlie and Dorothy were the parents of Carey Blaine Brown.
Charlie was step parent (from the age of 5) to Dorothy’s daughter, Karen Nielsen Brown Quintanilla. Carey Blaine lives in Pasadena, Texas. Karen lives in West Sacramento, California with her husband, Rene A. Quintanilla.
Charlie is the last surviving sibling of a family of nine children. The following siblings preceded Charlie in death: Jesse Lee Brown, Nancy Emaline Brown Sanches, Eva Belle Brown Saunders, Pauline Brown Key, William H. H. Brown, Lula Mae Brown Womack, Clemmie Plato Brown, James Weldon Brown. Charlie leaves three grand children/step grand children.
They are Christina Quintanilla, currently residing in Sweden, David Quintanilla, of West Sacramento, Ca, and Frank Cody Brown of Houston, Texas. He also leaves four great grand children, Daija Marie, Frank Cody, Jr, Felix Anthony, Scarlet Gabrielle, children of Frank Cody Brown. For many years Charlie was very active in Texas Liberal Democratic Party politics.
After working briefly at Continental Can in Houston, Charlie worked the rest of his career at Shell Refinery on the Ship Channel, retiring as a supervisor. Charlie will be missed and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and community members.
